Mukesh - Yeh Mera Deewanapan Hai - Yahudi [1958]

"Yahudi" is a 1958 Bollywood film directed by Bimal Roy. It starred Dilip Kumar, Meena Kumari, Sohrab Modi, Nasir Hussain, Nigar Sultana and others. Film's lyricist, Shailendra won the Filmfare Awards award for best lyricist in 1959, for the song, Yeh Mera Deewanapan sung by Mukesh. Film's music is by Shankar Jaikishan.... Mukesh Chand Mathur (Hindi: मुकेश चन्द माथुर) (22 July 1923 27 August 1976) was an Indian playback singer of Bollywood. Along with Mohammad Rafi, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, he dominated Indian film playback music from the 1950s to the 1970s. Mukesh's voice was noticed by Motilal (a popular actor in Hindi films, also a distant relative of Mukesh) when he sang at his sister's wedding. Motilal took him to Bombay, let him stay with him and even arranged for singing lessons by pandit jagannath prasad for him. During this period, Mukesh managed to bag a role in a Hindi film, Nirdosh (Innocent) (1941). His first song was dil hi bujha hua ho to as an actor singer for Nirdosh. He got his break as a playback singer for Actor Motilal himself in 1945 with the film Pehli Nazar'music by Anil Biswas & Lyrics by Aah Sitapuri' (First Look). The first song he sang for a Hindi film was Dil Jalta Hai to Jalne De (If the heart burns, let it burn), which was incidentally picturised on Motilal. Mukesh died of a heart attack on 27 August 1976 in Detroit, Michigan, USA, where he had gone for a concert. His body was carried back to India by Lata Mangeshkar, where a grand funeral ceremony took place as many famous actors, personalities of the Indian film industry, and fans paid tribute to the late singer. When the news of his death reached Raj Kapoor, he remarked, "I have lost my voice," which is a testimony to the timeless and unforgettable association of Mukesh's voice (in playback) to the immensely popular songs of Raj Kapoor's films. Geeta Dutt - Aye Dil Mujhe Bata De - Bhai Bhai [1956]

"Bhai Bhai" [1956] is an Indian Hindi film directed by Nitai Palit. Starring Kishore Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Nirupa Roy, Shyama, Beena and Lila Dulali. Music is by Madan Mohan. Lyrics by Rajinder Krishan.......... Geetā Dutt (Born Geetā Ghosh Roy Chowdhuri) [November 23, 1930 July 20, 1972] was a prominent Indian playback singer in Hindi movies in the 1950s and 60s, and also a singer of modern Bengali songs. Initially, Geeta was a singer known for singing bhajans and sad songs, but her renderings of composer S. D. Burman's jazzy musical scores in Bāzi in 1951 demonstrated a new facet of Geeta's singing. The sexiness in her voice and her easy adaptation to "western" tunes. From then on in the 1950s, Geeta was people's first choice for singing seductive songs and providing song accompaniments in dance clubs. S.D. Burman recognized the magic in Geeta's voice through her songs in "Do Bhāi". He effectively used the Bengali lilt in her voice in movies like Devdās (1955) and Pyāsā (1957). The song "Aaj Saajan Mohe Ang Lagaa Lo" in "Pyasa" is a prime example of a Bengali keertan being presented in its Hindi version. During Geeta's recording of songs for the movie Baazi, she met the movie's young and upcoming director, Guru Dutt. Their romance culminated in marriage on May 26, 1953.... In 1964, Guru Dutt died from a combination of alcohol and an overdose of sleeping pills. (His death was widely perceived as a suicide following two earlier attempts) Geeta then suffered a serious nervous breakdown, and also ran into financial problems. She tried to resume her singing career, cutting discs at Durgā Pujā, and giving stage shows................ Geeta died of cirrhosis of the liver on July 20, 1972. [Wikipedia & IMDb]
