Original Challa - Inayat Ali - Punjabi Folk ( Audio)

This great folk song is sung by Inayat Ali he is elder brother and music teacher of famous Pakistani singer Shaukat Ali who is known as voice of Punjab. ( Inayat Ali & Shaukat Ali both hail from Malikwal Gujrat Pakistan ) "Challa" originated from banks of chanab river (indus river) in Gujrat Punjab ( fame city of Sohni Mahiwal ) now in Pakistan. Challa is the story of father and son "Jhalla Malah" his son Challa ( yes son real name was challa ) one day took his boat on river and never came back ( presumably drowned in river) "challa mourr kay naiy aaiya rona ummraan da paaiya" Jhalla Mallah (real name Jalla ) couldn't bear loss of his young son and became mystic poet thus he became known as "Jhalla" his famous disciple is Manzoor Jhalla (famous songs by Manzoor Jhalla sung by Reshma "wey mein chori chori. " Hai Rabaa Niyuo lugda dil mera... and many more ) Challa current version was written by owner of "nutonky theater" later called "Pakistan Theater" Fazal Shah aka (phaji Shah) music was composed by his wife "Amman Iqbal" and sung by their adopted son Aashiq Hussain Jatt and was released on LP by HMV in 1934. In early 70s Inayat Ali sung challa for radio Pakistan Lahore and became instant hit folk song later on challa is sung by many famous singer notably among them Gurdas Mann , Shaukat Ali. Sassi Di Jawani - Part 2 {Sassi Punnu} by Alam Lohar

Sassi Punnu (or Sassui Panhu or Sassui Punhun) ({{Sindhi/Punjabi:سَسُئيِ پُنهوُن}},Urdu: سسی پنوں); is one of the seven popular tragic romances of the Sindh and four of the most popular in Punjab. The other six are Umar Marvi, Momal Rano and Sohni Mahiwal, Laila Chanesar, Sorath Rai Diyach, Noori Jam Tamachi commonly known as Seven Queens (Sindhi: ست مورميون) of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai . Sassi Punnu was written by the Sindhi and Sufi poet, Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai in (1689--1752). Regionally this unforgettable Romance happened in the region of Balochistan district Turbat, Pakistan.

Sahiban Da Kasid {Mirza Sahiban} by Alam Lohar

Mirza Sahiba (Punjabi: ਿਮਰਜ਼ਾ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਂ, مرزا صاحباں, mirzā sāhibāṁ) is one of the four popular tragic romances of the Punjab. The other three are Heer Ranjha, Sassi Punnun and Sohni Mahiwal. Alam Lohar was the most popular folk singer of Pakistan and recited mystic tale 'Mirza Sahiban' more than anyone else and popularised it throughout the world. There is no other singer who can recite or sing the tale better than this great perormer, who memorised entire books by great sufis and saints. His singing variations were very strong, he had a powerful voice where he could reach high pitched notes without any difficulty: In essence if you listen to Alam Lohar's singing style of Mirza Sahiba he sings at a very high note that is very difficult to reach. Alam Lohar also introduced singing with the instrument referred to as the 'jhori' or also known as the algoza. This instrument of the algoza or jhori was also used in Alam Lohar's famous creation JUGNI in the 50's,
